It's almost Spring and that means cool weather, flowers are blooming, and basketball! It's our favorite sport. Whether it's our hometown professional team, our favorite college team, or our local high school team, count us in! So, now that the biggest college basketball game of the year is almost here, we are gearing up and celebrating with a Hot Dog Concession Stand.
To prepare, we head straight to Wal-Mart to get every thing we need for our game day celebration. We gather hot dogs, chips, and lemonade for the boys and great Pfizer products like Advil to help us enjoy the night. I love shopping at Wal-Mart to be able to grab everything I need in one simple trip. It gets hectic sometimes dragging the boys to different store to get everything I need.
For our Hot Dog Concession stand, I set up rows of grilled hot dogs, all our favorite condiments including ketchup, mustard, onions, relish, and of course, a delicious hot dog chili. Plus, I paired with chips, mandarins, and lemonade and in case the hot dogs were not enough I included some Honey Chipotle Chicken wings (those are more for daddy).
I uploaded a photo of a basketball court to a local print shop and placed the over-sized print on the table and added a homemade felt basketball banner to complete our table decor. The boys loved it and wanted "play" basketball on it.
Before the game begins, we load up our hot dogs with our favorite toppings and I make sure I have plenty of Advil on hand. It will get loud, really loud and I cannot let a headache get in my way of having fun with my boys.
I have two boys who are very loud and love to wrestle and argue with each other all the time. Whether I am cheering on my little man at his basketball game or we are rooting for our favorite team on TV, I always use Advil to help me get through any situation. Nothing's stronger, longer lasting or better on your tough aches and pains than Advil* (*Among OTC brands). Ask a doctor before use if you have a history of stomach problems, such as heartburn".
Plain hot dogs are boring! To make your hot dogs stand out, try this delicious hot dog chili sauce that even my picky eaters love. It's a simple recipe that we all love.
What you need:
- 1 lb of ground beef. (I use ground Bison for a more hearty texture)
- 1 Small onion finely chopped
- 1 tsp Worchestershire sauce
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 oz can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- salt & pepper to taste
How to Make:
1. Cook ground beef with onion in skillet and cook until brown. Season with salt & pepper.
2. Drain any excess fat.
3. Add Worchestershire sauce, garlic, chili powder, cumin, tomato sauce, and water. Stir and bring to a boil.
4. Reduce heat to low and simmer until desired consistency.
5. Top your hot dogs with your favorite condiments and chili.

What you Need:
- Scissors
- craft knife
- Black and orange felt
- tacky glue
- ribbon or string
How to Make:
1. Cut felt into two different sized circles. I used two different sized bowls to trace my outlines. Make sure the black is larger then the orange.
2. On the orange circles, draw lines to mimic the basketball.
3. Cut out along the lines to form pieces.
4. Arrange pieces onto the black felt circles.
5. Using tacky glue, glue into place. Let dry.
6. Trim up the black edging to desired thickness.
7. Using scissors or craft knife, cut slits into top left and right sides of basketball.
8. String ribbon or string through holes and hang banner.
