We don't go out to eat as a family very often but, when we do Chili's is one of our favorite places to go. It's family friendly so when my boys act up, I don't get looks and stares and their food is good and not too expensive. One of our favorite dishes is their Honey Chipotle Chicken Crispers. I cannot get enough of them. So, when I came across this homemade version, I knew I had to make it. It has quickly become a favorite in our house. The sauce is fantastic and I am sharing the recipe with you.
I was searching pinterest and found the original recipe from Creme de la Creme. I made their homemade chicken crispers to go along with the chipotle sauce and it was fantastic!!! Short on time one night, I threw together the sauce with some frozen chicken wings and was a delicous treat for our family. It is now a staple in our house and something we make often.
Honey Chipotle Boneless Chicken Wings
What you need:
- 1 bag of frozen boneless chicken wings
- ⅓ cup honey
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons chipotle adobo sauce
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- ⅓ cup cold water + 2 tablespoons corn starch
How to Make:
1. Bake chicken wings according to directions on package.
2. Add all ingredients except for water and corn starch to a large sauce pan and bring to a gently boil, whisking throughout.
3. Whisk together cold water and corn starch until corn starch is dissolved. When sauce reaches a boil, add corn starch-water mixture and stir until sauce thickens. Reduce heat to low.
4. When chicken wings are finished baking, dip chicken strips in sauce, tossing to coat.
5. Serve warm with ranch dressing for dipping if desired.
